About Courses and Faculties
There are 5 different faculties at the Grodno State Medical University which are:
Faculty of General medicine - At the beginning, it was the only faculty at the university. The number of graduates from this faculty, at the beginning were 248. Now, 500-600 students get graduated from this faculty every year.
Faculty of Medical diagnostics - This faculty has been established in 2008, and hence this is the youngest faculty at the university. This faculty has two major courses :- Nursing, for which the course duration is 4 years and the degree will be ‘Graduate Nurse’. The second course is ‘Medical Diagnostics’ for which the course duration is 5 years and the degree will be ‘Physician’.
Faculty of Mental Health medicine - It is the faculty which is found only in the Grodno State Medical University in Belarus. It was established in 1993. The positions such as Psychiatrists, Addiction Psychiatrists, Psychotherapists etc. are acquired by the students who graduate from this faculty.
Faculty of Pediatrics - It was established in 1979. The university introduced specialized children diseases courses into the full course of studies of pediatric students. Pediatric, Pediatric surgery, Pediatric Anesthesiology and emergency medicine, Pediatric Gynecology are the four majors of Pediatric faculty.
Medical faculty for international students - The medical faculty for international students was established in 1995. International students can pursue their education either in Russian medium or English medium. Russian language can be used as the language of communication with the patients. The degrees from this university are recognized worldwide.
Admission Procedure of Grodno State Medical University
Upon arrival to the Belarus, students need to apply at the medical faculty for international students within 3 working days. For this, the following documents will be required:
Valid international passport with the relevant study visa

Medical fitness certificate by a registered doctor with stamp

Students must obtain a study visa if they wish to go to Belarus for study purpose. Belarus visa process is very easy and in very rare cases a student’s visa gets rejected.
Below are the requirements from the Belarusian embassy for most of the countries.
1. Educational documents and birth certificate of a student.
2. A copy of completed Visa application form to Belarus.
3. 2 color photos, which should not be 6 months older.
4. Medical test results from a recognized medical institute of the country which should include HIV test results also.
5. University's invitation letter from the Ministry of Education in Belarus to study at Belarus.
6. Students should have a valid international passport. It should be valid for minimum 90 days after the expected date of departure.
Accommodation and Campus at Grodno State Medical University
This university has one of the biggest medical libraries in the country containing 4,20,000 copies of textbooks as well as the library has various materials like CDs, medical journals, periodicals etc. Internet connection is also given to the library so that there is online access to the biomedical database.
The university has canteen with nice and rich variety of food or the students can prepare their food at the hostel itself. Students can live either in university’s hostels or can choose private accommodations.
Grodno State Medical University has a well-equipped Gymnasium and other sports facilities which are at a walking distance from the University’s hostel and main building.
Some of the other facilities which University provides to students include Indoor Badminton court, football practicing facilities etc.

In the Western part of Belarus, the city of Grodno is located and it is close to the borders of Poland and Lithuania. Grodno district’s capital is the Grodno city.
There are 5 rivers flowing through the Grodno city. The climate in Grodno city is warm summer continental climate. In winters, the temperature can be as low as -5.70 degree Celsius.
Grodno city has a rich culture. The famous old Grodno castle, the Kalozha church are the part of the city. The city celebrates ceremonies and festivals every year with great joy.
