Medical/Dental seats in Andhra Pradesh are authorized by NTRUHS – Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences.
Once the student qualifies NEET examination, the students become eligible to partake in the round of counselling process of NEET for an aim to study medical related course in the Andhra Pradesh State Govt. Medical Colleges. The students who want to learn in any medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh can do it through MCC to get AIQ seats & through NTRUHS for quota seats of the state.
Total number of government colleges in the state is 12 & the private colleges are 17. In which 307 seats will be filled via AIQ (All India Quota) and rest of the 1738 seats will be through State counseling process. Numbers of the total seats in private medical colleges are 2650, that will be filled completely by State counseling.
NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijaywada & Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati administers the process of admission in the state medical & dental college in Andhra state.
The counselling process combines 85% state govt. Seats & full list of pvt. Seats. It is organized in three rounds viz; round 1st, round 2nd, & mop-up which is also called spot or physical round. Only those students can apply for the counselling process who have the domicile of Andhra Pradesh. The physical verification of the documents are done before the process of counselling starts.
The research conducted by “Select Your University” indicates that acquiring Govt. seats in the state of Andhra Pradesh is much more convenient through state counseling in comparison with AIQ (All India Quota). The ranking of final seat in round 1 of general category was 15505 in the state counselling of government Medical College, Ananthapuram. The previously allotted seat via All India Quota (AIQ) of Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Ongole had the rank as 9268. Pvt colleges also have the highest cut-off.
Students usually have uncertainty about the categories of the seats in the college & it’s other details. Refer to the table given below.

Every year lakhs of students apply for these various colleges, therefore automatically, the cut-off goes higher & higher which makes it tough to surpass the entrance examination.
It is advisable to often keep a secondary option if a student doesn't get their admission secured in the college of their first preference.
The candidates applying for the counseling round must register themselves on http://ntruhs.ap.nic.in/ & proceed away the payment of 3540 INR for General & O.B.C category or 2950 INR for SC & ST category.
Then candidates have to log into their account according to the schedule & configure the seat matrix for filling the choice.
A seat will be allotted to the candidate as per his cutoff ranking, his individual preference & priority.
Once the candidate accepts the allotted seats, he/she has to make reporting to the respective college for the confirmation of further procedure. (Option for upgradation in round 2 is available)
The rounds of seat allotment will be carried out in accordance to the schedule & candidates can continue to be involved in upcoming counseling sessions.
Reporting into the college & complete the document verification.
Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada is the place where the counseling process of the year 2020 will be conducted. The counseling of AP MBBS 2020 is arranged offline & the candidates who are shortlisted are required to report at the assigned place of center to submit their college of preference. The candidates will have to pay an amount of 6000 INR on demand draft that consist of 1000 INR as a non-refundable fee.
