The National Testing Agency has been released the JEE Main 2026 session 1 city intimation slip. Students can now log in to the JEE Main official website to check their exam city and date. Students must note that this slip is not the Admit Card. The real Admit Card will be released by 17th or 18th January, 2026.

JEE Main 2026 is one of the top engineering entrance exams in India. NTA conducts this test two times in a year. The JEE Mains Session 1 exam date is at the doorstep now. It starts from January 21 and ends on January 29. Like every year this year the exam will be conducted in online mode. There are two shifts in the day, morning and evening. The JEE Main syllabus 2026 is the same as Class 11 and 12 NCERT books. You have to study Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. If the January exam is not good, you can also give the April exam a try.

Multiple Application Forms submitted by a candidate will not be accepted and will lead to the cancellation of his/her result. Under no circumstances, candidates be allowed to fill more than one Application Form.

JEE Main 2026 Exam Pattern

JEE Main 2026 is a three-paper exam aimed at different courses. Paper 1 is for students who intend to undertake B.E./B.Tech. course and the questions are based on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics - a total of 90 questions, of which 75 are to be answered.

In the case of architecture aspirants, Paper 2A (B.Arch) involves testing Mathematics, Aptitude, and Drawing skills, whereby the question paper will have 82 questions, 77 of which the candidate must attempt. The students to the courses in planning will meanwhile apply in Paper 2B (B.Planning), which will be in Mathematics, Aptitude, and Planning-based questions, 105 questions of which 100 should be answered.

JEE Mains Counselling 2026

Following the declaration of results, JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) conducts the counselling process to get admission in various institutes in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and also in some of the deemed universities. The entire counselling process is online, with candidates registering, inputting college/ courses of interest as well as taking part in several rounds of seat allotment.

Candidates during the counselling are required to:

  • The online JoSAA portal registration.
  • Select and keep locking the options of institutes and branches as per the option.
  • Attend group seat allotment rounds that operate according to the JEE Main rank, category and vacancy.
  • Report to the allocated institute and confirm by paying fee and verification of documents on admission confirmation.

The procedure is typically completed through 6-7 Counselling rounds (including special rounds for CSAB vacant seats.
