Why Has NTA Formed a Three-Year Panel of Subject Matter Experts?
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is developing a comprehensive question bank to reduce the risk of question leaks and prevent translators or subject matter experts from memorising or reproducing examination questions. As part of this initiative, the agency has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from academicians, scientists, educators and other qualified professionals to join its three-year panel of subject matter experts and translators. NTA has not specified a final deadline for the selection process. The EOI remains open, and eligible experts can be added to the panel throughout the year.
According to a report by The Indian Express, NTA is creating an extensive in-house question bank to support its examination process. The proposed bank will contain a common pool of questions, helping the agency strengthen question paper security and minimise the possibility of paper leaks.
How Will the Common Question Bank Be Used for NTA Exams?
Under the proposed system, subject matter experts and translators will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and verifying questions without knowing which specific questions will be selected or the examination for which they are intended.
The question bank will contain a large pool of questions to prevent experts and translators from memorising or reproducing them. Selected professionals will also have to sign a comprehensive Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) during their appointment and reaffirm their confidentiality commitment before starting each assignment.
How Will Selecting Questions Just Before the Exam Help Prevent Paper Leaks?
As per reports, the NTA has started developing a comprehensive question bank to strengthen examination security. The proposed system will enable the agency to select questions and finalise the question paper just a few minutes before the examination begins, thereby reducing the chances of paper leaks.
The NTA is scheduled to conduct the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 examination from January 20 to 24 and on January 28, 2027. Registration for the first session is currently underway on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates can submit their application forms without paying a late fee until November 22, 2026.
