The JEE Main Exam Application Process 2026 is being conducted completely online through the official NTA portal. As per the latest update, the JEE Main 2026 Application Form has already been closed for session 1, but registration for session 2 will be open in late january 2026. JEE Main 2026 Session 1 admit card is expected to be released by January 17th or 18th January, 2026.
Around 14.5 lakh candidates are scheduled to appear for JEE Main 2026 session 1 exams to be held over 6 days in two shifts per day. Aspirants have been advised to keep their Aadhar card, UDID card (for PWD candidates), and valid OBC/SC/ST/EWS certificate ready to avoid last minute issues during form submission.
To apply for JEE Main 2026 candidates must first complete the online registration with their personal details (name, email ID, and mobile number) followed by filling in academic qualifications, exam city preferences and course details. The candidate will also need to upload scanned documents, including a passport-size photograph, signature and category certificate (if applicable), in the prescribed format.
The application fee can be paid by debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI and varies by category (General, OBC, SC, ST and EWS) and the number of papers selected (Paper 1, Paper 2 or both).
Only applications with successful fee payment will be accepted. After submission, candidates can download and save the confirmation page for future reference. NTA will also provide a correction window to make limited changes in the form before final submission.
Candidates who have passed the Class XII / Equivalent Examination in 2024, 2025 or those who are appearing in the Class XII / equivalent Examination in 2026, are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) - 2026. The details of the JEE Main 2026 eligibility criteria and application fees will be released along with the application form.
Multiple Application Forms submitted by a candidate will not be accepted and will lead to the cancellation of his/her result. Under no circumstances, candidates be allowed to fill more than one Application Form. Strict action will be taken, even at a later stage, against such candidates who have filled more than one Application Form and will be treated as UFM.
How to Apply for JEE Main Exam Application Process 2026
The JEE Main Exam Application Process 2026 is a multi-step procedure that involves registration, filling out details, uploading documents and paying the application fee. Follow the steps below to apply for JEE Main 2026 online.
(i) A candidate can apply for the Session-1 (January 2026) examination and pay the exam fee accordingly. The candidates will be given the opportunity to apply for Session-2 (April 2026) separately (using the same application number) along with the fee payment, for which a separate notification will be issued.
(ii) If a candidate wishes to apply for Session 2 (April 2026), the candidate can log in and pay the Examination Fee for Session 2 during that period. If the candidate wishes to apply only for Session-2 (April 2026), he/she can register later, when the application form for Session-2 (April 2026) is active.
(iii) The application window for Session 2 will be opened as per the details available in the Information Bulletin and will also be notified separately through a Public Notice.

- Visit the official website: Go to the JEE Main 2026 registration portal.
- New Candidate Registration: Click on New Candidate Registration and fill all the required personal details.
- Create Password: Choose a strong password of your choice and click on the Submit button.
- Receive Login Details: Candidate will get JEE Main registration number and password on their registered email ID and mobile number. This completes the registration stage.
- Fill Application Form: Log in and fill out the JEE Main 2026 application form with academic qualifications, exam city preferences and paper details.
- Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your passport-size photograph, signature and category certificate (if applicable).
- Pay Application Fee: Pay the JEE Main 2026 application fee through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card or UPI.
- Confirmation Page: After successful payment, download and save the confirmation page for future reference.

Before starting the JEE Main Exam Application Process 2026, candidates must ensure that to meet the eligibility requirements set by NTA. - Minimum Marks in 10+2: No minimum percentage requirement.
- Paper 1 (BE/BTech): Physics and Mathematics are mandatory along with one subject from Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject
- Paper 2A (BArch): Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class 12 are required.
- Paper 2B (BPlan): Mathematics is compulsory in Class 12.

Essential Guidelines for Images and Documents
- A colour or black and white photo should be used. The candidates are allowed to have spectacles in the photograph. Sunglasses and caps are not allowed.
- Unclear photos will not be accepted. The uploaded photo should be clear and adhere to the recommended file size and format as specified in the guidelines provided by NTA.
- The signature should be clearly done on white paper. The size and format of the uploaded signature should comply with the guidelines.
- The documents uploaded should be of the size and format prescribed by the NTA.

JEE Main 2026 Application Fee
The JEE Main 2026 application fee will be officially announced by NTA in the information brochure. Candidates can pay the fee online through credit/debit card, net banking, UPI, or wallets. The application form will be accepted only after successful fee payment. The fee varies by category, gender, and exam centre location (India or abroad).

JEE Mains Admit Card info
The release date of the JEE Main admit card, as well as the time is generally declared a few days prior to the exam date. Admit card for January session 2026 is expected to be released by January 17 or January 18th 2026.
