• BITS Pilani will provide a 100% tuition fee scholarship to the top 1000 BITSAT 2027 rankers with a family income of up to ₹20 lakh.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani has made a decision to extend its full tuition fee scholarship programme to the top  1000 BITSAT rankers from the 2027 admission session. In the previous year, BITS Pilani had launched the scheme for the top 500 candidates in BITSAT 2026. As per the Group Vice Chancellor V Ramgopal Rao, students whose annual family income is up to ₹20 lakh are eligible for the scholarship. Candidates who are eligible will get a 100% tuition fee waiver for all 4 years of their UG course under the scheme. 

However, candidates will need to minimum 7.5 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) at the respective campuses for continuing to receive the scholarship. The scholarship includes tuition fees for 4 years, which is subject to fulfilling the requirements. Students must note that it is not a complete waiver for all hostel, admission, or other charges. The expanded scholarship programme focuses on making BITS Pilani admissions more accessible for academically meritorious candidates, regardless of their financial background.

BITS Pilani Expands Scholarship Coverage from 500 to 1,000 Students

BITS Pilani has introduced a tuition-blind admission initiative for the top 500 BITSAT rankers in the 2026 admission session. Eligible students from families with a yearly income of up to ₹20 lakh were provided a full tuition fee waiver under this programme. Starting 2027, the institute has made a decision to double the number of students who are covered under the initiative from 500 to 1000. As per V Ramgopal Rao, the scholarship initiative has also affected admission decisions among the high-ranking candidates.

In 2026, the number of eligible candidates from the top 500 BITSAT rankers who joined the institute increased by 50%. The BITSAT score increased from 314 to 324 for this group. The Group Vice Chancellor also highlighted that the advantages have now been extended to candidates ranked 501 to 1,000, a group that was previously excluded. An increase of 50% has been made in the number of students joining BITS Pilani from the overall top 1000 rank. 

BITS Pilani Distributes Rs 190 crore in Scholarships & Financial Assistance

As reported, BITS Pilani has significantly spent on student financial assistance. In 2025-26, the institute distributed approximately ₹190 crore with the help of scholarships, fee concessions as well as fellowships across its UG, PG and doctoral courses. From this, almost ₹101 crore had been allocated to UG students through merit-cum-need, merit-based, and international student scholarship programmes.

BITS Pilani stated that approximately 1 in 4 students across its campuses got some form of financial help. From the expanded scholarship program that starts in 2027, BITS Pilani focuses on increasing opportunities for high-performing students who might otherwise see the cost of education as a barrier to admission.
