Changes & Trends from Previous Years

  • It became the first college in Jammu & Kashmir to provide an MD course in Biochemistry from the 2024-2025 academic year. 
  • 16 more seats were added to the PG seats of the college, which now amount to a total of 214 seats.
  • Due to administrative errors, MBBS seats were reduced in GMC Jammu. They were restored to 180 by the National Medical Commision(NMC).
  • UG courses(MBBS, B.sc. Paramedical, GNM) and PG courses(MD, MS, PG Diploma) are provided here.
  • It has a reservation policy for the diverse categories, such as:
    General(50%), SC(8%), ST(6%), EWs(10% from the unreserved category) and PWD(5%).

Eligibility Criteria for GMC JAMMU Admission 2025

After clearing the cutoff for GMC Jammu, one needs to pass the counselling round. For the AIQ students, the counselling round is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee(MCC). For the residents of Jammu & Kashmir, the counselling round is conducted by the Jammu & Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE). The MBBS aspirant to be eligible for the counselling round needs to fulfill the following requirements:

  • The candidate should be 17 years of age.
  • The candidate must have passed the NEET UG Examinations.
  • The candidate must be a domicile of Jammu & Kashmir for JKBOPEE.
  • The candidates who have passed their required cutoff.
  • EWS candidates should keep their EWS certificate ready, and PwD candidates should have their PwD certificate.
  • Categories other than general must have their caste certificates.
  • Ladakh Residents must have the domicile certificate issued by the respective authority.
  • Should be an Indian National, NRI, OCI, PIO, or a Foreign national.

 GMC Jammu MBBS Seat Reservation Policy

The total strength of seats at GMC Jammu is 180. With 153 reserved for the candidates from Jammu & Kashmir and 27 from the whole of India under All India Quota(AIQ). Every category has a certain percentage of seats reserved for it. 

The General Category gets 50% seats reserved for them. Then comes the other castes like the SC(8%), ST(6%), EWS(10% from the unreserved category) and PWD(5%). The candidates who are not from Jammu & Kashmir come under the Category of All India Quota(AIQ) irrespective of their caste and sex. 

The category reservation is only available for the domiciles of Jammu & Kashmir.
