The Karnataka NEET UG Counselling is conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). It conducts the counselling for the Government medical colleges in state as well as for private medical colleges in state. The counselling is for 85% of seats from Government medical colleges and 100% seats of private medical colleges.
The counselling is conducted in 4 stages. 1st round, 2nd round, Mop up round and Stray round. The mop up round is a physical round and the Stray round is of college’s round.
Karnataka is the prestigious state for getting the medical degree. It is also an open state where students from other states can also take admission for medical colleges. This resulted in the huge competition for the medical seats in Karnataka, particularly among the other states’ students.
This competition can be seen in these numbers:
In 2019 KEA has recorded 31087 Karnataka domicile students applied for 3979 seats. And 50545 non Karnataka students had applied for 595 seats for non Karnataka students. This indicates the level of increased competition. It shows the ratio of 8 Karnataka students for 1 seat, and around 85 non Karnataka students for 1 seat.
We at Select Your University have observed that many students who have scored good marks and secured a qualifying rank also missed their chances of admissions due to lack of good guidance and lack of the knowledge or rounds and admission process.
Many students don’t know whether they need to attend all the rounds or which college they should apply for. Here at Select Your University we have researched at extreme levels and promise to give you seats that you deserve with proper knowledge and guidance for the admission process, and rounds of counselling.
Students should keep in mind that this is a tentative schedule. Due to the Covid-19 situation, this schedule may vary if some actions are taken by the Government.
For going through a smooth counselling process without any problems, students are advised to follow the simple steps of the counselling process:
Candidates are required to bring the requisite documents in original and submit the Xerox copies of the same during the verification process of KEA 2020.
If claiming reservation benefits:
When the first round is finished, the candidates who have allocated seats, need to confirm their choice if they want to accept the seat or not. If they want to accept the seats allocated to them then candidates have to pay the fee and deposit in particular college. After that they will not be allowed to go for further rounds. Failing to report in the particular college and not paying fee will result in cancelling the admission.
When the candidate wants to go for further rounds even after getting seat allocation in the first round, they can pay the fee and go for the second round. Here if the candidate gets a higher option then students can go for the higher option. If there is no higher option allocated to students then the earlier allocated seat still remains in student’s favor.
If any candidate is not satisfied with the allotted seat, and is willing to participate in the next round of Karnataka MBBS counselling, they are required to cancel the allotment and reorder the options entered.
