The Governing body which conducts Medical/Dental counselling in the State for the 100% Private Seats and 85% State quota seats for the students of the state is DME – Directorate Of Medical Education, Tamil Nadu.
Out of 3647 seats from 27 Government Colleges 547 seats got filled through AIQ (All India Quota) and remaining 3100 got filled through State counselling process.
There are 13 Private Medical Colleges in the State which offer 2000 seats which entirely got filled through the State counselling process.
To opt Private seats under Management quota, Tamil Nadu allows other students also to participate in the counselling process.
Overall, there were 3 rounds of counselling, Round 1 and Round 2 were conducted online, and mop up was conducted offline.
Tamil Nadu has one of the highest numbers of Government seats as per “Select Your University” research to be offered to the state domicile students. In total 31353 students, there was a huge competition for the Government seats, applied for 3100 Government seats. For 1 seat, there was a fight between 10 students.
