Karnataka is one of the premier states for medical education in India, with 70+ medical colleges located in government, private, and deemed universities. The state has offered 12,000+ M.B.B.S seats, thousands of MD/MS and DNB seats, and a large number of Super Speciality (DM/MCh) seats, and is a popular choice among NEET aspirants from all over the country. The students who wish to enroll must qualify in the NEET UG 2026 exam and attend the Counselling conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) for State Quota seats and the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for All India Quota and deemed universities, respectively.

Some of the top colleges in Karnataka include Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI), Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Mysore Medical College, Kasturba Medical College, JSS Medical College, and St. John's Medical College, all of which consistently rank among the best institutions for medical education in India. Besides this, the state has multiple government medical colleges in Bangalore, top-rated private medical colleges, and deemed medical colleges in Karnataka as well to offer options to the students based on their NEET rank and budget.

Admission is majorly dependent on Karnataka NEET Ranking, Karnataka MBBS Cut Off, seat availability, Reservation criteria, and Counselling rounds. For candidates who do not meet the NEET score, there are private medical colleges in Karnataka with low cut-offs as well as deemed medical universities in Karnataka in subsequent counselling sessions. Counsellors will also keep an eye on the Govt seats in Karnataka Private medical colleges cut off as these seats are available through counselling by KEA at a lesser fee.
