The counselling for Medical and Dental courses in West Bengal is governed by the governing body WBMCC – West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee. There are 18 Government and 5 private medical colleges in West Bengal, which have 2550 and 700 seats respectively. The complete admission process in the state medical and dental colleges of West Bengal is administered by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata.
The counselling in West Bengal is conducted for 85% of the state Govt. seats and 100% private seats. There are three rounds of West Bengal NEET counselling - 1st round, 2nd round and mop up round that is also known as Spot round or physical round. Only the students having domicile of the state of West Bengal are eligible for Government seats. Fees will vary for domicile and non-domicile students however Private seats are open for all.
In 2019, Physical verification of documents was conducted by the authorized persons of West Bengal Counselling and it is going to be the same.
As per ‘Select Your University’ studies, Kolkata seems to be high in demand in West Bengal, whereas cut off for Government seats were at moderate level. The cut off under state quota Govt. seats for the General category was 32549 in Round 1, whereas it was 39200 in Round 2.
Those who are looking for Government seats in West Bengal should try through the state quota as the cut off under AIQ is quite higher than the state. For non-domicile students who were looking for Private medical seats the Cut off for Round 1 was 39527 and in Round 2 it was 45464. Compared to state students, fees are higher for students from other states.
