The Education Testing Services (ETS) is all set to spike up the standard of the TOEFL English language proficiency test that’s mandatory in the general admission criteria of top foreign universities.
According to the official statement announced yesterday by the ETS board, the changes made in the TOEFL essentials are expected to be much cost-effective, and is expected to gain the trust of the major foreign institutes that intake the maximum percentage of foreign students in each academic session.
The statement announced in the official website of ETS considers one such move as a ‘high stake decision’ for raising the value of the TOEFL English proficiency test in the upcoming years.
The new pattern of the test is going to follow a unique pattern for examining the credibility of the students on the basis of their reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities. The ‘ideal combination’ is going to frame 50% of the test questions from academic English and the rest 50% is expected to be from General English.
The test is going to be a remote proctored online home based test with a test fee around 7300 INR (approx) / 100 US$. According to Mr. Srikant Gopal, the Executive Director of TOEFL program, such innovative initiative has been taken to boost the interest and the excitement of the students ensuring transparency for the students who aspire to enjoy the global educational infrastructure offered in the foreign universities.
He also mentioned that such innovative changes will cater the testing preferences of the students in a better way than before. The registrations for the test will be opening on June 17 and the examinations will commence on August 21.
