The beginning of Poznan University of Technology was started in 1919. In 1937, the Ministry of Education, Poland officially approved the technical status of the university.

Today, the university has a 9 faculty institution of higher education educating nearly 16,000 students in 31 fields of study thereby employing 1000 academic staff.
