The CAT exam 2025 will be conducted in computer-based test mode at designated test centres throughout the exam body will allot a CAT exam centre closest to the home address mentioned by the applicants so that they can reach there on time. CAT 2025 will be conducted at nearly 375 CAT exam centres in 170 cities. The list of test cities for CAT 2025 has been published. While filling up the CAT 2025 registration form, applicants can choose up to five cities for the CAT exam centre 2025 allotment. 


What is a CAT Exam Centre?

CAT exam centres are well-equipped computer labs, where the applicants are required to take the test on the scheduled day. More than 370 labs conduct the CAT exam in more than 150 cities. The CAT 2021 exam was held in 156 CAT exam centres. In 2022, the exam will be conducted in 150 CAT exam centers. For CAT 2023, the number of CAT exam centers was 167. CAT 2024 was held in 170 CAT exam centers. The number of CAT exam centres in 2025 is around 170. 

The CAT Exam is taken by 3,00,000 applicants throughout India every year. For the CAT application, there is the highest number of applicants among all MBA entrance exams. This exam is conducted in three slots at different exam centres. CAT 2025 Exam Centre Allotment: How to Select the CAT Exam Centre?

For allotment of preferred CAT test centers, the applicants should specify their preferences of cities in the CAT application form 2025. Applicants will be allotted CAT exam centers in the cities of their choice for the CAT application form 2025. Applicants will be allotted a CAT exam centre in the city of their choice. For CAT 2025 aspirants, the number of CAT exam centers/test cities chosen will be five. Here is the method to select the preferred test city in the CAT form 2025:

  • Register for CAT 2025 on the official website; iimcat.ac.in.
  • Once the login ID is created, use it to fill out the application form.
  • Go to the selection ‘select test city’.
  • Select up to five cities from the drop-down.
  • Fill up the rest of the fields in the form, make payment of the exam fee, and click on submit.

Exam Day Guidelines to Follow at the CAT Exam Centre 2025

Applicants must take a look at the following exam day guidelines that must be followed at the CAT exam centres 2025:

  • Applicants should arrive at the CAT exam centres at the reporting time mentioned on the admit card. If not possible, arrive at least 30 minutes before the gate closes as no entry to the exam hall will be allowed after that.
  • Check the reporting time once more the day before the CAT exam. Reporting time for the morning session is 7 am, for the afternoon session is 11 am, and for the evening session is 3 pm.
  • Make sure you carry a hard copy of your CAT admit card 2025 and an original ID proof before going to the CAT exam centre.

Each CAT exam centre has an elaborate identification method for which 1.5 hours are allotted before starting the exam. If an applicant's exam starts at 8:30 am, they are required to reach their CAT test centre by 7 am. For applicants taking the exam in the second slot, reporting time is 10 am. CAT Do’s

These points are to be considered as CAT Do’s. 

  • Carry two printouts of the CAT admit card 2025, ID proof, and a pen to the exam centre. 
  • Show the original printout of your CAT 2025 admit card to gain entry into the CAT exam centre.
  • Follow the instructions and cooperate in identification and frisking at the entry gate.
  • Use the Reference Number printed on your CAT admit card to locate your exam hall, go inside, and be seated at your designated work station.


CAT Dont’s

The following points are to be noted for the CAT dont’s. 

  • Do not carry electronic items to the CAT exam centre. Closed shoes, belts, caps, jackets, and other outfits and accessories with metal are prohibited inside the exam hall.
  • The CAT exam centre will close 15 minutes prior to the exam; thus, do not be late for the exam.
  • Do not argue with the CAT exam centre staff or other applicants. Unruly behaviour may invite disqualification.
  • Do not use keyboards at any point in time during the exam, or your system will automatically lock.

Ques. Can I edit my CAT application form after submission?

Ans. No, you generally cannot edit your CAT application form after submission, except for a brief, particular correction window that enables changes to particular fields such as test city preference, signature, and photo. 


Ques. What are the details mentioned on the CAT admit card?

Ans. A CAT admit card includes personal details such as the name of the applicant, date of birth, registration number, along with exam-centric information like the exam centre address, slot, time, and date. It also contains the signature and photograph of the candidate, along with significant instructions for the exam day.  


Ques. Can the test centre be changed after the release of the CAT admit card?

Ans. No, the CAT test centre cannot be changed after the admit card has been released.

Ans. CAT does not entertain requests for particular exam centers within a city. The exam center allocation solely depends on availability and logistical considerations, and applicants must accept the allocated CAT exam center in their preferred city.

Ans.  Yes, the conducting body will release the state-wise list of CAT exam centers prior to the registration period. Applicants can refer to this list to select their exam city during registration.
