The Vinayaka Mission’s Medical College & Hospital, established in 1996, is located near the Bay of Bengal, Karaikal, Puducherry. It is the first private college of this union territory of Puducherry, India, duly recommended by the Puducherry government. The college gets approval and recognition by the MCI under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW) & University Grant Commission (UGC) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, which is affiliated to Vinayaka Missions University.
The Vinayaka Karaikal, Deemed to be University, before becoming a constituent college of VMRF DU in 2004, was affiliated with Puducherry's University and listed in the WHO and FAIMER (IMED) International Medical Education Directory. MBBS, MD, and MS are the most popular courses of the institute.
Vinayaka Mission Medical College was also renewed in the year 2010. The college received permanent recognition from MCI - Medical Council of India, the Health Ministry, Government of India. The council recognized PG courses (General Medicine, General Surgery, Dermatology, O&G, Paediatrics, Anesthesiology, ENT, Biochemistry, Ophthalmology, Biochemistry, Radiology, & PG Diploma courses in D.C.H., D.G.O., D.O., D.A., D.DVL, D.Ortho.
