GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude Test) is held year-round with flexible test dates. The GMAT Exam is conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) for admission to MBA, MIM, MS in Management, and other business-related programs across top global universities.

The latest GMAT Focus Edition (11th Edition) has replaced the old exam pattern. The GMAT Exam is available both online (at home) and at official test centres. Candidates can book their preferred test date and location through the official GMAT website.

The GMAT Exam format is as follows

  • It has 3 sections, which are Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights.
  • The GMAT Exam has a total of 64 questions to attempt. 
  • The GMAT exam duration is 2 hours 15 minutes, including an optional 10-minute break.
  • Each section is allotted 45 minutes, and candidates have the flexibility to choose the order in which they attempt the sections, making the test more personalized and convenient.

The GMAT Exam Fee in India is ₹23,726 for tests taken at official GMAT test centres and ₹25,883 for the online exam.

The GMAT registration process in India is simple and can be completed entirely online. To make the procedure more convenient, GMAC has divided the GMAT registration steps into several stages. Here’s a detailed, step-by-step guide for GMAT 2025 registration.


Step 1: Visit the official GMAT website and begin the registration process.

Step 2: Create a new account using a valid email ID if you are a first-time user.

Step 3: Enter personal details such as your full name, date of birth, address, and contact information.

Step 4: Provide your academic background and professional experience as required in the GMAT application form.

Step 5: Once your profile is complete, proceed to select a GMAT test centre based on your preferred location.

Step 6: Choose your GMAT exam date and book a slot according to your convenience.

Step 7: Select your preferred exam time slot, which determines when you’ll take the test on the scheduled date.

Step 8: Pay the GMAT registration fee online using a credit or debit card.

Step 9: After successful payment, your GMAT registration is confirmed, and you’ll receive a confirmation email with your test details.


These steps apply to the traditional GMAT exam conducted at test centres. For the GMAT Online exam, the registration process is similar but does not include test centre selection; candidates simply choose their preferred date and time for the at-home test.

Number of Attempts

The GMAT exam can be taken up to 5 times in 12 months, 3 times online and 2 times at a test centre, with a minimum 16-day gap between two attempts.

Lifetime Limit

There is no overall restriction on the total number of GMAT attempts, but each attempt must follow GMAC’s retake policies.

ID Requirement (India)

For Indian applicants, a valid and current passport is the only accepted ID proof for both online and test centre-based GMAT exams.

GMAT 2025 Exam Dates

The GMAT exam is held throughout the entire year, allowing candidates to choose exam dates conveniently each month based on availability. 

Candidates are also permitted to retake the GMAT Focus Edition, but certain attempt policies apply:

  • You can retake the GMAT after a minimum gap of 16 calendar days.
  • Candidates are allowed to take the GMAT up to 5 times in 12 months and a maximum of 8 times in their lifetime.
  • If a candidate misses the GMAT exam on the scheduled date, they can reschedule or reappear within 24 hours by registering again and paying the applicable exam fee.
