NIFT 2026 Overview

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Entrance Exam is a national-level test conducted every year for admission into undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Design, Fashion Technology, and Fashion Management. In 2024, over 24,000 candidates appeared for the exam, competing for around 5,200 seats across 18 NIFT campuses in India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata.

The entrance exam comprises tests for UG and PG courses, including the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT), Situation Test, and GD/PI. The overall difficulty level is considered moderate to high, as it assesses a candidate’s creativity, logical reasoning, communication skills, and time management. The NIFT score is accepted only by the 18 official NIFT campuses, making the competition intense. The cutoff for top campuses like NIFT Delhi and Mumbai often lies within the top 100 ranks, while others may go up to 2000+, depending on category and program.
