Admissions

Students who want to apply to the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, must fulfil certain academic and national-level entrance exam qualifications based on the program they are applying for. For the Bachelor of Science (Research) course, there is the necessity of the candidate having studied physics, chemistry, and mathematics in his/her 12th standard (or equivalent) and passing either the KVPY, IIT-JEE (Main or Advanced), or NEET. A relevant B.E./B.Tech or M.Sc. degree is required for M.Tech degrees, with a valid GATE score is usually needed. Besides, there are certain research programs that need a valid GATE score or a JRF qualification (such as DBT JRF, ICMR JRF, or CSIR NET JRF).

Scholarships

At IISc Bengaluru, scholarships/fellowships are generously provided from the date of joining to all but M.Sc., M.Mgt., B.Tech., M.Tech (through CFTI), Joint M.Tech, and M.Engg. (1-year). Students of merit are awarded fellowships by agencies such as CSIR, UGC, DBT, ICMR, MHRD, AICTE, and DST, and industrial scholarships by companies like Infosys, IBM, Microsoft, and Tata. Registration fee duration is up to 2 years (M.Tech/M.Des/M.Tech (Res)) and 5 years (Ph.D.). Candidates can get 12400 per month for IIT B.Tech students having a CGPA of 8 or more through CFTI.
