Overview

The All India Law Entrance Test is a national-level examination held every year for admission into BA LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. courses at National Law University, Delhi. For the 2025 admission cycle, the AILET is expected to be held on December 1, 2024 (Sunday).  Results are expected by late December, and counselling will likely begin in January 2025. Unlike the CLAT, the AILET is organised for the benefit of NLU Delhi with very limited seats: only 110 for the BA LL.B. program, 70 for the LL.M., and a few for the Ph.D. programs. About 30,000 candidates appeared for the test in 2024, making the competition really hard.

AILET exam is usually held in offline mode and is rated hard to moderate, mainly due to the very few seats and the high AILET cutoffs (above 90 marks out of 150 for the general category in BA LL.B., most of the time). The candidates are tested on English, Logical Reasoning, Current Affairs, and Legal Aptitude for the law entrance and on subject-related knowledge and essay writing skills for LL.M. AILET scores are accepted only by NLU Delhi, making it an important opportunity for law aspirants aiming to study at this top university.

AILET Application/Registration Process 2025

The AILET 2025 application process is fully online. Candidates must carefully fill in personal, academic, and category details, upload the required documents, choose preferred exam centres, and pay the application fee. The step-by-step admission process is mentioned below.

1. Read the Notification Thoroughly: Suppose there is any doubt about your eligibility. Refrain from applying. The application fee will not be refunded, no matter what.

2. Fill the Personal Details Correctly: Enter your name, date of birth, parents' names, and all contact details as given in your Class 10 certificate. Also, use a valid email ID and mobile number from which you can be contacted.

3. Category and Nationality: Select the Category duly. Ask yourself which category you belong to (SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ PwD/ General/ Kashmiri Migrant, etc.). Set nationality Indian or Foreign, as the case may be. Category certificates will be checked during admission.

4. Exam Centre Preferences: Choose three cities in order of preference for the examination centre.

5. Academic Information: Enter the academic information carefully. For BA LL.B., Class X or Class XII marks, and for LL.M., the LL.B. degree details are required. Enter either the percentage or CGPA, depending on the instructions.

6. Upload Photo and Signature

• Colour passport photo against a white background (max 1MB)
• Clear scanned signature (6x3cm), in black/blue ink (max 1MB)

9. Payment and Acknowledgement: Payment of fees shall be made online either through Debit/Credit Card, UPI, or Net Banking. After successful payment, an Application Number and a payment Receipt will be generated.

10. Original Documents Required: At the time of Admission/Counselling, the Candidate Shall Have to produce the Originals of the following:
