AILET Eligibility Criteria 2025
To appear for AILET 2025, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set by NLU Delhi for each program, like B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. These criteria include academic qualifications, minimum marks, and specific provisions for reserved and foreign categories.

B.A. LL.B. (Hons.)
Here are the eligibility criteria for B.A. LL.B. (Hons.).

General Category | Passed 10+2 or equivalent with minimum 45% marks (42% for OBC, 40% for SC/ST/PwD) |
Candidates Awaiting Results | Eligible to apply and appear in AILET, but must meet eligibility by the cutoff date. Compartment cases in the admission year are ineligible |
Foreign Nationals | - Minimum 65% in 10+2 or equivalent - Must hold foreign citizenship and a valid passport - Exempted from AILET |
OCI/PIO Candidates | - Can apply under both Indian and OCI/PIO categories (separate applications required) - If applying as an Indian National, AILET is mandatory |
Merit Criteria | - AILET Score for Indian Nationals - Qualifying exam marks (%) for Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO |
LL.M (One-Year Programme)
Here are the eligibility criteria for LL.M (One-Year Programme).

Candidates Awaiting Results | Eligible to apply and appear in AILET, but must meet eligibility by cut-off date. Compartment cases in the admission year will be ineligible |
Foreign Nationals | - Must hold foreign citizenship and a valid passport - Exempted from AILET - LL.B. or equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade - Must clear an English proficiency assessment (written/spoken) and interview for aptitude evaluation |
OCI/PIO Candidates | - Can apply under both Indian and OCI/PIO categories (submit two separate forms) - If applying as an Indian National, AILET is mandatory |
Merit Criteria | - AILET Score for Indian Nationals - Qualifying exam marks + English skills + interview for Foreign Nationals |
Note:
1. Seat Reallocation Rule: Unfilled seats under the Foreign National and OCI/PIO categories will be converted to the General Category and filled based on AILET merit.
2. Foreign National: Citizen of a country other than India with a valid foreign passport OCI/PIO, as notified by the Government of India.

AILET Syllabus
The AILET 2025 syllabus focuses on assessing key skills such as reading comprehension, general awareness, and logical reasoning. 1. Know the Exam Pattern
- Understand the structure of the exam:
B.A. LL.B.: 150 Multiple Choice Questions
LL.M.: 100 MCQs + 2 descriptive questions (only for shortlisted candidates) - Negative marking of 0.25 for each incorrect answer applies.
2. Plan Smartly
- Create a balanced timetable focusing on both strong and weak subjects.
- Allocate daily slots for revision and practice.
- Avoid last-minute cramming—use weekly reviews.
3. Practice Mock Tests
- Attempt past AILET papers and mock exams under timed conditions.
