Common Law Admission Test
Overview
The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has issued an update for the delay of the CLAT 2025 counselling schedule. This delay is a result of challenges made to the CLAT results in the Delhi High Court by students, from changes made to the CLAT answer key. Finally, the publication of the first CLAT 2025 merit list, which was scheduled for 26th December, 2024, has been postponed. The CLAT 2025 result was released on 7th December, 2024, after which the final answer key was provided to the students.
CLAT Exam also known as Common Law Admission Test is a national-level examination that is an online entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities. It is primarily designed to facilitate admission to 5-year integrated LLB (UG) and 1-year LLM (PG) courses in 24 and 21 NLUs respectively. To be eligible for CLAT Exam candidates must have passed or be appearing for your 12th (or equivalent) examination from a recognised board.
The CLAT Exam 2025 for UG courses will include sections on English, Current Affairs and General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. For PG courses, the exam covers Constitutional Law and other legal subjects such as Jurisprudence, Torts, IPC, CrPC, CPC, Family Law, and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). To sit for the exam one has to fill out the CLAT 2025 application form on consortiumofnlus.ac.in.

What is the CLAT Exam?
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an national level examination that facilitates admission to the five years integrated LLB and one year LLM program. The exam is conducted for 24 NLUs for UG courses while for 21 NLUs for PG courses. The CLAT Exam 2025 was conducted in an offline mode. The CLAT Exam format includes 120 multiple-choice questions across five sections (English, Current Affairs, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques) in a 2-hour duration.
More than 1 lakh candidates appeared for the CLAT exam this year. 97.03% of the candidates registered for the CLAT 2024 Undergraduate test, and 93.92% of the candidates registered for the CLAT 2024 Postgraduate test appeared in the exam.
Apart from NLUs the CLAT score is considered by the following colleges and organisations.
- 61 other private affiliate colleges accept CLAT exam scores.
- PSUs such as ONGC, BHEL, etc. use CLAT PG scores for their recruitment.
CLAT Exam Application Form 2025
The CLAT Exam Application Form 2025 was released in July 2024. To fill out the application form candidates have to login to the portal with their mobile number and email id. Then they have to fill the application form by providing all the details correctly and submitting all the required documents. For the CLAT 2025 UG exam, the application fee is Rs. 4,000 for General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI candidates and Rs. 3,500 for SC/ST/BPL candidates. CLAT Admit Card
The CLAT Admit Card was released by the Consortium of NLUs on November 15 2024. Here below are the key steps to download CLAT Admit Card 2025.
- Go to the official website of CLAT exam 2025 or click here for direct link
- On the login window, enter the registered phone number and password to access the admit card
- Next, download the admit card, and cross-check all details mentioned on it.
All candidates will have to present their CLAT 2025 admit card along with an original valid ID proof (Aadhaar card/PAN Card/Voter ID/Passport/Driver's License/School ID) at the exam centre. Students are highly encouraged to keep a regular eye on official websites for latest updates.

CLAT Exam English Language Syllabus
The CLAT Exam English Language syllabus includes passage based questions. These passages are derived from contemporary and historically significant fiction and nonfiction writing. The question asked will be:
- Read and comprehend the main point discussed in the passage, as well as any arguments and viewpoints discussed or set out in the passage;
- Draw inferences and conclusions based on the passage;
- Summarise the passage;
- Compare and contrast the different arguments or viewpoints set out in the passage; and
- Understand the meaning of various words and phrases in the context that they are used in the passage.
CLAT Exam Current Affairs including General Knowledge Syllabus
The CLAT Exam Current Affairs include passage based questions, these are listed below:
- Contemporary events of significance from India and the world;
- Arts and culture;
- International affairs; and
- Historical events of continuing significance.
CLAT Exam Data Legal Reasoning Syllabus
The CLAT Exam Legal Reasoning syllabus includes passage based questions. The question are:
- Identify and infer the rules and principles set out in the passage;
- Apply such rules and principles to various fact situations; and
- Understand how changes to the rules or principles may alter their application to various fact situations.
CLAT Exam Quantitative Techniques Syllabus
The CLAT Exam Quantitative Techniques will include short sets of facts or propositions, or other textual representations of numerical information, followed by a series of questions. You will be required to derive information from the passages or questions, and apply mathematical operations on such information.
CLAT Exam Logical Reasoning Syllabus
The CLAT Exam Logical Reasoning syllabus will include a series of short passages of about 450 words each. Each passage will be followed by one or more questions that will require you to:
- Recognise an argument, its premises and conclusions;
- Read and identify the arguments set out in the passage;
- Critically analyse patterns of reasoning, and assess how conclusions may depend on particular premises or evidence, and how conclusions may be strengthened or weakened as a consequence of an alteration in premises or supporting facts;
- Infer what follows from the passage and apply these inferences to new situations;
- Draw relationships and analogies, identify contradictions and equivalence, and assess the effectiveness of arguments.

CLAT 2025 Answer Key
The Consortium of NLUs published the CLAT Answer Key 2025 in two phases. Initially, the CLAT Provisional Answer Key 2025 was released, followed by the publication of the CLAT Final Answer Key 2025. Candidates who took the CLAT Exam can access and download the official CLAT Answer Key 2025 PDF online by visiting the official website of the Consortium at consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The answer key for the CLAT exam provides the correct answers corresponding to each question in the exam paper.
Additionally, the exam authority instructed candidates to cross-check their responses with the CLAT 2025 answer key and raise objections if they found any discrepancies. The CLAT Objection Window 2025 remained open until December 3, 4 PM.
After reviewing the objections submitted, the Consortium issued the CLAT Final Answer Key on December 7, 2024. The CLAT Result 2025 was subsequently declared based on the final answer key. However, both the CLAT Final Answer Key and the result have been legally challenged in court, leaving candidates anxiously awaiting the commencement of the counselling process.

The CLAT 2025 results have been released by the consortium of nlus.ac.in. Candidates will have to login to their portal on the official website with the registration number and password. Then they have to click on the CLAT results link available in the latest notifications. With the help of their CLAT Application number available on CLAT admit card they can download their scorecard. CLAT 2025 Counselling Process
The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has issued an important update regarding the delay in the CLAT 2025 counselling schedule. This delay is a result of challenges made to the CLAT results in the Delhi High Court by students, from changes made to the CLAT answer key. Finally, the publication of the first CLAT 2025 merit list, which was scheduled for 26th December, 2024, has been postponed. The CLAT 2025 result was released on 7th December, 2024, after which the final answer key was provided to the students.
Candidates whose names appear in the CLAT merit list will have to complete the necessary fee payment for the final seat allocation. Earlier, the CLAT 2025 counselling registration process was closed on December 20, 2024. Applicants were instructed to submit a minimum of 15 NLU preferences and pay the registration fee through their login portal. The CLAT 2025 result was officially released on December 7, 2024, following the publication of the final answer key.

Cut Off 2025
The CLAT Exam cutoff will be released by the Consortium of NLUs. The minimum score through which students can get admission in the five years LLB program in NLUs will be released through CLAT Cutoff 2025. Here below in the table is the CLAT Cutoff 2024.
