How to Register for the IELTS Exam Online?

Step 1: Visit the Official IELTS Website:
Go to the official website – www.ieltsidpindia.com and click on the “Register for IELTS” link.

Step 2: Create Your IELTS Account:
Enter your details like name, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, and passport number. Verify your mobile number and email by entering the OTP sent to you. After verification, your User ID and Password will be generated.

Step 3: Log In to Fill the Application Form:
Use your login credentials to access the portal. Click on “Apply Now” or “Go to Application” to begin filling the form.

Step 4: Choose the Test Mode and Type
Select your preferred mode: Computer-delivered or Paper-based. Then choose the test type: Academic or General Training, based on your purpose (study or migration/work).

Step 5: Select Test Location and Date:
Choose your preferred test city and test centre from the list. You’ll also see available dates and time slots—select one as per your convenience.

Step 6: Enter Personal and Educational Details:
Fill in all required information like address, nationality, education details, and other personal data.

Step 7: Upload Required Documents:
Upload a clear, coloured scanned copy of your valid passport (first and last page) and a recent passport-size photograph as per the given specifications.

Step 8: Select Universities to Send Scores:
Choose up to five institutions/universities where your IELTS scores will be sent directly after the exam (optional but recommended for students).

Step 9: Pay the IELTS Exam Fee:
Pay the IELTS registration fee of INR 18,000 using a debit card, credit card, net banking, or Paytm.

Step 10: Review and Submit the Application:
Double-check all details entered. Once you’re sure, click on the “Submit” button to complete your registration.

Step 11: Download and Print Acknowledgement:
After successful submission and payment, download and print your acknowledgement receipt and filled application form for future reference.


Note: You will receive a confirmation on your registered email and mobile number. For computer-delivered IELTS, you can choose your own time slot. If not selected, a slot will be auto-assigned.


How to Register for the IELTS Exam Offline?

If you don’t want to register online, you can register for IELTS through offline mode by visiting the nearest IDP IELTS India branch or Input Node. Follow the steps below for a smooth offline IELTS Exam application process.


Step 1: Collect the Application Form:
Visit the nearest IDP branch or Input Node and collect the IELTS application form.

Step 2: Fill Out the Application Form:
Fill in all the required details in the application form using clear handwriting and valid information.

Step 3: Sign the Terms & Conditions Document:
Read and sign the Terms & Conditions attached with the application form.

Step 4: Attach Passport Photocopy:
Attach a clear photocopy of your passport’s first and last page, and observation pages (if any).

Step 5: Pay the IELTS Exam Fee:
Pay the IELTS registration fee of INR 18,000 at the IDP office using card, cash, or other accepted modes.

Step 6: Submit the Application:
Request the IDP staff to enter your form details in the online registration system on your behalf.

Step 7: Collect Acknowledgement Slip:
After successful entry and fee payment, collect your acknowledgement slip and tentative seat reservation details from the staff.

IELTS Result

IELTS results are declared timely. It is out in 13 days after the test. For computer-based exams, results are announced even faster, in just 3-5 days. Results show up online first. Official Test Report Form (TRF) reaches you later by post or courier. IELTS bands range from 0 to 9. Each section has its own band then the overall band is your average. IELTS does not provide the facility of partial marks and no rounding up magic.
