UPCET Eligibility Criteria 2026

The Uttar Pradesh Common Entrance Test (UPCET) is a highly competitive state-level exam conducted for admission in UG & PG courses across Uttar Pradesh's premier institutions. To ensure true and fair merit-based admission, UPCET performs some tough but inclusive practices, mainly focusing on nationality, educational background, subject combinations, and residential status.

UG Program Eligibility

For the B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Pharm, and allied UG programs, the criteria are:

  1. Minimum Education: Passed 10+2 from a recognised board  
  2. Required Subjects:
  • B.Tech/B.Pharm/Agricultural streams: Physics & Chemistry, plus Mathematics/Biology/Vocational 
  • B.Arch: PCM aggregate ≥ 50%, with ≥ 50% in each  

       3. Minimum Marks:

  • Gen/OBC/EWS: ≥ 45%
  • SC/ST/PwD: ≥ 40%  


PG Program Eligibility

For postgraduate courses like MBA, MCA, M.Tech, M.Pharm, and others, the eligibility criteria are as follows:

  1. Must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university  
  2. MBA/MCA: ≥ 50% (Gen/OBC/EWS), ≥ 45% (SC/ST/PwD)
  3. M.Tech/M.Pharm: Specific to discipline, as indicated in the official brochure


Domicile & Seat Reservation

  1. UP Residents: Full eligibility for government/private seats.
  2. Non-UP Students:
  • Parents from UP: UP domicile seats
  • No UP connection: Eligible only for →10% private seats (Engineering/Agriculture/B.Pharm)  
  1. NRI Candidates: 5% seats via NRI quota; may bypass UPCET, but must meet.  equivalent academic criteria.


 Subject-Specific Requirements

  1. Integrative MCA: Requires Mathematics at 10+2 or Graduation level  
  2. Diploma Holders (Lateral Entry): 60% (Gen), 55% (SC/ST) in a relevant technical diploma.
