Students allotted seats in one of the NEET counseling rounds can select to opt for a better college in the next round. The method of getting a new seat after an allotted seat is called seat upgradation.

Applicants are allotted seats in NEET counseling depending on different factors including their NEET All India Ranks, online option entities, categories, and marks. Medical seats throughout prestigious colleges are usually filled by the top marks in the NEET exam. The seats allotted to applicants depend on the order of names appearing on the merit list. This step is called online option entry or the choice-filling step, one of the most vital steps in NEET counseling. ●     Seat Upgradation only Round 3: Applicants must understand that the option to upgrade seats in NEET counseling 2025 will only be available till round 3 or the mop-up round. They cannot upgrade seats after the mop-up round. This means that the seats allotted in the mop-up and stray vacancy rounds are final. Applicants must accept and join their allotted seats in the stray vacancy and mop-up rounds.

What are the options after seat allotment?

Here are the options for students after they are allotted seats:

●     Report to the Allotted College: Once a seat is allotted in rounds 1 and 2 in NEET counseling 2025, students can choose to accept the allotted join and seat the allotted college within the particular timeline.

●     Seat Upgradation: If they are unsatisfied with the allotted seats, students must opt for seat upgrades and attend subsequent NEET counseling rounds. If they do not have any seats allotted in the Subsequent, then the previously allotted seat will be available to them.

Note: For the mop-up round and the other rounds following it, applicants will not have the option to upgrade seats. Applicants allotted seats in these rounds must report to their allotted colleges before and after the particular deadline.
