The NMC has published the MBBS seat matrix for 2026-27 on its official website. Applicants can download the NMC NEET UG seat matrix 2026 for the MBBS for knowing the seat intake data. According to the NMC seat matrix 2026 for NEET MBBS, 1,36,939 seats would be filled in 2026 for MBBS. According to the official notice of MARB, the MBBS seat intake does not involve institutes of National Importance (INIs) like AIIMS MBBS seats, as well as JIPMER. Additionally, the seat matrix is tentative currently and is subject to change if needed. 

The total MBBS seats in India are divided between the government and private medical colleges in India. This involves 63,296 government seats as well as 73,643 private seats, with the new MBBS seats (9,911) added for 2026–27.

Among all the seats, 15% are allocated through the MCC NEET 2026 counselling, and the rest 85% are allocated through the state counselling.  The following categories of MBBS seats in India are allotted through the MCC NEET 2026 counselling. These are:

  • 15% seats in all government medical colleges and dental colleges in India.  
  • 100% MBBS and BDS seats at the central universities like AIIMS, JIPMER, BHU and many more.
