Latest Update

  • The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has once again delayed the NEET UG 2025 round 2 counselling, which was earlier set to start on August 29.
  • The NEET 2025 counselling Round 2 was scheduled to begin on August 29, 2025, but has been delayed until further notice. The NEET 2025 Round 1 seat resignation window has been reopened till September 3, 2025.


The NEET 2025 counselling Round 2, which was supposed to begin on August 29, 2025, has now been delayed until further notice. At the same time, the Round 1 seat resignation window has been reopened and will remain active till September 3, 2025. Earlier, this window was available only from August 21 to August 25, 2025.

For Round 2, the PwD portal is now live and will stay open until 12:00 Noon on September 9, 2025. The MCC has also added two new Designated Disability Centres to help students get Disability Certificates. However, the complete schedule for Round 2 counselling is still awaited. The delay in Round 2 counselling comes after the National Medical Council (NMC) increased MBBS seats, leading to changes in the process.


What is the NEET EXAM?


The full form of NEET is National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). It is the sole entrance test for admission to undergraduate medical and paramedical courses offered in India. The exam is conducted once a year in offline or paper-pencil-based test (PBT) mode for three hours and 20 minutes or 200 minutes. As far as the NEET exam pattern is concerned, there are 200 questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology, out of which 180 questions have to be attempted.

New Changes in NEET AIQ Counselling 2025

  • There are four stages to AIQ counselling: Stage 1, Stage 2, AIQ Mop-up, and AIQ Stray Vacancy. 
  • There are no upgrades permitted from Round 2. 
  • Candidates who win seats in Round 2 are not permitted to withdraw or compete in subsequent rounds. 
  • Candidates who decline a seat in Round 2 must re-register for the Mop-up Round and forfeit their security deposit.

  • State Quota Counselling (85% seats)

Eligibility Criteria for NEET 2025 Counselling

  • Candidates must have passed NEET 2025. 
  • Minimum percentile required: 

             General Category: 50th percentile (Projected Scores: 720-164) 

             SC/ST/OBC Category: 40th percentile (Projected marks: 163-129) 

             PwD (General): 45th percentile (expected score: 163-146) 

  • Applicants must register for counselling on the MCC's official website. 
  • Students must also register independently for state counselling through state portals.

NEET UG State Counselling 2025

Apart from the 15% AIQ seats, state authorities will manage 85% of the seats in the state quota. Applicants must submit their applications through the portals in their home states. The merit list will be created by state regulations. 

Private medical colleges will also provide counselling through state counselling bodies. The information will be available on the websites of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as well as the relevant state health departments.

  • Individual counselling sessions are held in Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. 
  • MCC handles AIQ (15%) counselling. 
  • State agencies handle 85% of the counselling.


NEET 2025 Counselling Process

The counselling procedure includes the following steps:


Step 1: Register for NEET 2025. 

Applicants must sign up on the MCC website by submitting:

  • Academic information. 

To complete the process, candidates must pay the counselling registration fee.

Step 3: Option Selection and Confirmation

Applicants can select their preferred colleges and programs. They're capable of:

  • Add, remove, or reorganise options.
  • Make their final selections before the deadline.


Step 4: NEET 2025 Seat Distribution

  • Seat distribution is determined by the All India Rank (AIR) and candidate preferences.
  • MCC will post the seat allocation list on its official website.


Step 5: Report to the Designated College

Applicants must go to the designated college to have their documents verified. Failure to comply will result in the cancellation of their seat.


Documents Required for NEET Counselling 2025

  • NEET 2025 Admit card
  • NEET 2025 Rank Letter and Scorecard 
  • Mark sheets for classes 10 and 12. 
  • Proof of Identity (Aadhar, PAN, Passport, Voter ID) 
  • Photos in passport size (8 copies) 
  • Caste Document (If Relevant) 
  • Certificate of Disability (where applicable).


For candidates who are NRI or OCIs: 

  • Passport and Consular Certificate 
  • Sponsorship Declaration 
  • Affidavit Of Relationship 
  • Refund of Security Fee for NEET Counselling 2025 
  • If a seat is assigned, the security deposit will be deducted from your first-year fees. 
  • If a seat is not assigned, a full refund will be issued to the original payment account.

  • New registrations are accepted for Round 1, Round 2, and the Mop-up Round.
