MBBS Seats in India 2026: How are they divided into AIQ vs State Quota?

Each government medical college seat is divided between the 2 counselling pools:

  • All India Quota (AIQ): 15% (Filled by MCC with the help of central counselling that is open to students of any state).
  • State Quota (SQ): 85% (Filled by the respective state counselling authorities and is reserved for the domicile candidates of that state).

Private and deemed university seats are filled out fully with their own counselling that has sub-categories involving:

  • Management Quota: Direct college-level admissions at greater fees.
