MAT September 2026 exam registration: The MAT September exam is the third cycle out of the four MAT exam cycles conducted every year.

MAT Registration 2026 September is ongoing on the official website mat.aima.in. All India Management Association (AIMA) will organize the September session of the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) in two modes: Paper Based Test (PBT) and Computer Based Test (CBT). The exam is scheduled for admission to the MBA and PGDM courses in various management institutes in India. 

Graduates in any field or final year of graduation are eligible for MAT September 2026. AIMA has maintained separate registration timelines for PBT and CBT thereby giving candidates a choice to register for the exam mode as per their preference.

MAT September 2026 Registration: Important Dates

MAT September 2026 PBT exam dates will be held on 13th September and CBT exam will be held on 20th September. The candidates are advised to register in advance in line with the respective deadlines for appearing in their opted test mode.

MAT 2026 Registration Fee

Candidates have to pay an application fee as per the test mode opted by them. AIMA has set the fee for both PBT and CBT at ₹2,300/- and for PBT/CBT, the fee is ₹4,000/-. It can be noted that if candidates have opted for both modes, they can appear for both tests and can use the better score for admission.

Who Can Apply for MAT September 2026?

The MAT September 2026 is open for all candidates who have passed their graduation in any stream. Students in the final year of graduate courses are also eligible for appearing. AIMA does not specify any age limit or compulsory work experience to sit the MAT. 


How to Apply for MAT September 2026?

The candidates are advised to fill the MAT 2026 Online Application Form by following the steps mentioned below:

  1. Go to the official website of MAT at mat.aima.in.
  2. Click on the register button and enter basic details to register.
  3. Confirm your mobile number and e-mail ID with an OTP.
  4. Click to log in to the MAT applicant dashboard.
  5. Choose the preferred PBT, CBT or PBT+CBT option.
  6. Choose the cities for the test and the management institutes that are to participate.
  7. Fill in your personal and academic/examination information.
  8. Submit the necessary picture and signature.
  9. Submit appropriate online MAT application fee.
  10. Check all the details on the application form and return it.
  11. Save and print the confirmation page for later.

MAT September 2026 Exam Pattern

The MAT 2026 exam is divided into five sections, there are 30 questions in each section, total 150 questions. The time allotted for the candidates to complete the examination is a total of 120 minutes. They consist of Language Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, and Economic and Business Environment sections. Each wrong answer is considered to be wrong and penalized by 0.25 marks.

MAT September 2026: What Should Candidates Do Now?

Those who want to register for MAT September 2026 should do it as soon as possible and not wait until the last moment. The last date to apply for those who have chosen the PBT exam is 7 September and for those taking the CBT, the deadline is 14 September. Candidates should also choose their cities for the Test wisely and bring the photo, signature and payment information along with them before filling the application.

Registration: The candidates should download their MAT Admit cards after the registration and then prepare themselves as per the pattern of five sections after downloading the Admit card. According to AIMA, MAT scores are accepted by 600+ B-Schools, while the current MAT portal mentions over 130 B-Schools that are accepting the MAT scores for the September session. It is important to check with the institutes of choice to confirm acceptability of MAT scores for the desired programme of MBA / PGDM.
