Punjab NEET 2026 AIQ Cutoff: FAQs

Ques: What are the AIQ closing ranks for Punjab medical colleges?

Ans: Medical colleges in Punjab are expected to have a General closing rank ranging from 12,500 to 18,500 for AIQ seats in 2026. For other categories, including OBC/SC/ST and EWS, the cutoff ranks are expected to be 18,000 to 1,50,000. The final cutoffs will depend on factors like the number of seats, the number of applicants, overall NEET exam performance, etc.

Ques: What is the NEET cutoff score for MBBS in Punjab?

Ans: For General candidates, the expected NEET cutoff score for AIQ seats in Punjab is 520 to 550 or above. In terms of rank, the expected closing rank for General candidates in the state is 12,500 to 18,500. You must check the final cutoffs for AIQ seats from the MCC website to confirm the specific cutoff for the upcoming MBBS admissions.

Ques: Is there a domicile requirement for AIQ seats in Punjab NEET counselling?

Ans: No, the AIQ seats are open for candidates across India. Thus, you can apply for the AIQ seats if you are not a domicile of Punjab but want to study at a medical college in the state. The domicile status is only required for the 85% SQ seats in government medical colleges. Moreover, the private medical colleges also typically do not require domicile status for their seats and provide admissions for donations or higher tuition fees.

Ques: Which is good for a NEET student, AIQ or state quota?

Ans: Neither AIQ nor SQ is necessarily a better option than the other. SQ seats consist of 85% of the government college seats in any given state in India, and can be applied for only by candidates domiciled in that state. On the other hand, AIQ seats consist of 15% of the government colleges' medical seats. Thus, SQ seats will have lower competition and cutoff requirements than AIQ seats.

Ques: Is there a sports quota in NEET in Punjab?

Ans: Yes, the sports quota is applicable to the 85% SQ seats in government medical colleges in Punjab. Thus, that means 1% of the available SQ seats in the state can only be filled by students who fulfill the sports quota requirements. Usually, you need to provide a sports graduation certificate (Category A, B, or C) from the Punjab Department of Sports to be eligible for sports quota seats. Moreover, this quota is applicable only to candidates domiciled in Punjab.

Ques: Which state has the lowest NEET cutoff for AIQ seats?

Ans: The following are some of the states with the lowest NEET AIQ cutoffs:

  • Arunachal Pradesh
  • Meghalaya
  • Nagaland
