Overview

The All India Sainik School Entrance Exam 2026 is a national-level test by the National Testing Agency (NTA). AISSEE 2026 is scheduled to be held most probably in the first week of January 2026, with notification expected in September 2025, application starting in October 2025, and result announcement in February 2026. Admission to Class 6 and Class 9 in Sainik Schools spread all over India, governed by the Ministry of Defence, is given through the exam. 

Around 3.5 lakh students appeared in 2025, and therefore, more or less the same is expected in 2026 too. It is an offline exam covering subjects like Maths, Intelligence, Language, and General Knowledge (Class 6) and Maths, Science, English, and Social Science (Class 9). The difficulty level for Class 6 ranges from Easy to Moderate, whereas for Class 9 it ranges from Moderate to Tough. The AISSEE 2026 score would be considered by 33 existing Sainik Schools and 18 new ones under the government-approved model for admissions.

AISSEE  Admit Card 2026

For admission through the AISSEE 2026 application, candidates have to satisfy certain age, class, and academic requirements that vary in the case of admission into the existing Sainik Schools or the newly approved ones.   • Reach the Centre Early: Arrive in the centre at least 30-60 minutes before reporting time.

  • Avoid the practice of borrowing any kind of stationery from fellow aspirants during the exam.
  • Never Panic! If you do not know the answer at first, simply leave the question and come back to it later.
  • Never waste too much time on a particular question.
  • Avoid marking multiple answers, where clarity in answers matters the most, though there is no negative marking.
  • Absolutely no talking or signalling may cause disqualification.

AISSEE Answer Key 2026

The provisional answer key for AISSEE 2026 will be released on the NTA official website, likely in May 2026, shortly after the exam.   • Release Schedule: The answer key of the AISSEE shall be released after the conclusion of the examination, falling in between months of March to April, 2026.

  • Objection Facility: A candidate shall be allowed to object to any answer by depositing a non-refundable fee of ₹200 per question.

AISSEE Result 2026

The AISSEE 2026 result process happens in steps. First, NTA will release the OMR sheets and answer keys. About 6 weeks after the exam, the final scores will be declared on the official NTA website. Then, the merit list and cut-offs for schools will be announced. Qualified students must take part in e-counselling through the AISSAC portal for admission.   • OMR & Answer Key Display: The NTA will upload OMR sheets and provisional answer keys online. Candidates can raise challenges on these by paying ₹100 for each OMR question and ₹200 for each answer key question.
  • Challenge Review: All objections are considered by experts, and if found to be valid, corrections are made, and the final answer key is prepared, which is then taken forward for the preparation of results.
  • Result Declaration: AISSEE 2025 Results declared on the NTA website 6 weeks after the exam. Candidates can download their scorecards from the Candidate Login.
  • Qualifying Marks: General/OBC/Defence: A candidate must obtain at least 25% marks in each subject and 40% marks overall.
  • SC/ST: No minimum marks.
  • New Sainik Schools: For all categories, candidates must secure 25% marks per subject and 40% marks overall.
  • Merit Lists: NTA prepares and releases merit lists, School-wise, Category-wise, and all-India for both regular and new Sainik and New Sainik Schools (40% & 60% Routes).
  • E-Counselling Process: The qualified candidate has to register himself/herself on the AISSAC portal for allotment to a particular school. Admissions shall be made on a merit basis, choices, and availability of seats. 
  • Conditions for Admissions: Admission shall be subject to merit rank, medical fitness, document verification, and acceptance by the candidate of an allotted school. Merely being placed on the merit list will not entitle one to admission.
