The JEE Advanced 2026 examination is scheduled on 17th May 2026. The JEE Advanced registration 2026 will begin on 23rd April 2026 for Indian students, while the same will begin from 6th April 2026 for Foreign National candidates and OCI/PIO (F) candidates, and registration will close on 2 May 2026. Like every year, IIT JEE Advanced will be held in online mode across 222 cities in India and 2 outside India. The JEE Advanced host for 2026 is IIT Kanpur. The candidate willing to apply for JEE Advanced 2026 must pass the JEE Main 2026 Cutoff Percentile for JEE Advanced. The JEE Main Final Cutoff will be released after the JEE Main session 2 results. 

Candidates must qualify JEE Advanced eligibility 2026 to fill the application form, which includes having appeared for Class 12 (or equivalent) exams in 2024 or 2026 (with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects), be among the top 2,50,000 qualifiers in JEE Main 2026, and meet the age and other specific requirements. 

The JEE Advanced Paper Pattern consists of two three-hour papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2), each covering Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with a mix of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and numerical questions. The total. The JEE Advanced Paper includes a total of 102 questions across two papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2), with 51 questions in each paper. Each paper consists of 17 questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

What is JEE Advanced?

The Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) Advanced is a second step after the JEE Main examination to get admission in the various engineering courses offered by IITs and other institutions. The top 2.5 Lakh performers in the JEE Mains Examination are invited to appear in the JEE Advanced. For example, JEE Advanced is considered to be one of the toughest exams in the world. This exam is conducted in CBT(online) mode by 7IITs or IISc Bangalore, under the aegis of JAB(Joint Admission Board). 

Those who qualify in the JEE Advanced exam are offered seats in IITs based on their course preference and JEE Advanced ranks via a common process by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Around 1.80 lakh candidates registered for the JEE Advanced examination 2025, out of which only 48,248 candidates passed the examination.

  • An affidavit duly stamped and attested by a notary public, on a nonjudicial stamp paper of INR 10 as per the format given in the updated JEE Advanced 2026 information brochure. The affidavit should be of the candidate if she/he is more than 18 years of age. If the candidate is less than 18 years of age, the affidavit should be given by her/his parent or legal guardian.
  • Withdrawal letter/notification issued to the candidate from her/his college/university/institute.

JEE Advanced 2026 Counselling Process

IIT JEE counselling 2026 is the process through which qualified candidates secure admission to engineering and science courses offered by various IITs. A detailed step-by-step guide to the counselling process is shown below.

1. Register on the JoSAA website (Joint Seat Allocation Authority).
