• Guest Worker Quota: The government capped the "guest worker" permits at 35,000 for 2025. This means companies are more picky. They don't want to do paperwork for junior roles unless you are really special.
• The Golden Ticket: If you have high skills (IT, Engineering, Research), ask for the "Hungarian Card". It is much better than normal work permit—easier for family to join you later.

Salary in Hungary vs. Cost of Living

A "fresh graduate" salary in a corporate job might be around 450,000 to 600,000 HUF Gross (this is before tax). But, a decent one-bedroom flat in Budapest (not crumbling down, not in the middle of nowhere) is easily 200,000 - 250,000 HUF plus utilities.
