CBSE Class 10 Previous Year Question Papers Overview
As per the analysis of CBSE Previous Year Question Papers Class 10, there will be competency based questions, case studies, HOTS, MCQs, Assertive & Reasoning questions, very short answer questions/one-word answer questions and short and long answer questions.
The CBSE Class X Board PYQs has mixed type questions. In each paper 50% weightage is given to competency-based questions, 30% weightage for short and long answer questions and 20% weightage for Objective-type questions.

The competency-based questions consists of case studies, source based questions and HOTS, while the short and long answer questions are theoretical questions. The Objective-type questions can be MCQs, Assertion & Reasoning questions or One word Answer (Very Short Answer Questions).
The mathematics standard paper is usually difficult and based on concepts, requires strong problem-solving, accuracy, and application based while the basic mathematics paper is usually at moderate level with fewer HOTS and concepts.
The science question paper is usually at moderate level with numericals from physics and equations from chemistry. The paper is competency and case study based. The social science paper is usually easy but lengthy. The major part is based on memorization of dates and chronological order but map work requires practice.
The English and Hindi papers are usually easy to moderate level. The major questions are asked from Class X English & Hindi NCERT Textbooks. The reading comprehension part is usually lengthy but easy while grammar is a little tricky. In Hindi, the paper is based on literary interpretation, poetic appreciation, and grammar accuracy.
