Are you aiming to pursue an MBBS degree from one of the top medical colleges in Himachal Pradesh? If yes, then you are in the right place! But before discussing anything else, it's important to understand the minimum cutoff marks to be eligible. The cutoff score is the minimum mark a candidate must secure in NEET to qualify for the counselling and admission.

In this blog, we will discuss all the aspects of the Himachal Pradesh NEET 2025 MBBS Cut-Off. So keep reading to know more!

Types of NEET Cutoffs

Different colleges have different NEET cutoffs for MBBS admission. Usually, the more well-known or reputed the college is, the higher the cutoff will be. Government colleges generally have higher cut-offs because most students prefer them due to their affordability. Private colleges, on the other hand, charge higher fees, so their cutoff scores are usually a bit lower.

When it comes to NEET, there are mainly two types of cutoffs:

  1. Qualifying cutoff
  2. Admission Cutoff

Let’s understand what these cutoffs mean and how they affect your chances of getting into a medical college.

Qualifying Cutoff

The NEET qualifying cutoff is the minimum score to clear the NEET exam. It is set every year by the NTA (National Testing Agency), the official body that conducts the NEET examination. If you score equal to or above this cutoff, you can participate in the NEET counselling princess. But if your score is below the cutoff, you won’t be considered qualified and will need to appear for the exam again next year.

This NEET cutoff varies each year and depends on your category. The qualifying cutoff marks are clearly mentioned on your scorecard. Here’s a quick look at the category-wise NEET cutoff scores:

  • General (UR) category - 50% / (160/720)
  • General (PH) category - 45% / (143/720)
  • SC/ST/OBC - 40% / (125/720)

Admission Cutoff

The NEET Admission cutoff is the minimum marks the candidates need to get admission in any particular college, and different colleges have different cutoff marks for admission. It depends on the availability of seats, the number of students applying, and the college's reputation. There are various factors like the number of seats available, how many students apply, and how well-known the college is, that determine the admission cutoff.

  • Admission cutoff is different for All India Quota and State Quota. The cutoff for State Quota students is generally less than that of AIQ candidates.
  • The admission cutoff mostly depends on the reputation of the college. More reputed colleges get more applications, and hence the cutoff increases.
  • Government Medical colleges have higher cutoffs as they are much more affordable than the private colleges. Hence, more students apply and the cutoff increases.

Next, we’ll look at the year-wise Himachal Pradesh NEET MBBS Cutoffs to get a better idea of the trends.
