NMC Approves 245 New NEET PG SeatsThe National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 245 new postgraduate (PG) medical seats for the academic year 2025-26. The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has made the decision after reviewing appeals by medical colleges. This boost is aimed towards the enhancement for the opportunities for the NEET PG candidates as NEET PG Seat Matrix increases.
The First Appeal Committee examined cases that challenged earlier PG seat allocation decisions. The increase in the seat count is the aftermath. An official notice was circulated on 6 January 2026. However, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has already asked states to hold off on Round 3 counselling as the revised percentile eligibility is yet to receive formal approval.
The total number of PG medical seats available for NEET PG 2025 has crossed 28,700, as MCC Releases NEET PG Seat Data: More Than 28,700 Seats Confirmed.

What NMC Said on Additional PG Medical Seats?
The list of these additional seats will be treated as a valid document for NEET PG Counselling rounds. Counselling authorities do not have to wait for Letters of Permission (LoPs) for these seats. LOPs will be issued shortly. The new development has already been communicated to the heads of all medical colleges. NMC has urged them to take note of the new allocation.
As the counselling process for NEET UG and NEET PG is going on, the chain of seat revisions has not been stopped at both the national and state levels.
